A Reading of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion”

May 5, 2020

This brilliant and eerily-still-relevant play was the basis for “My Fair Lady,” Our reading features a mini-reunion of much of the cast and crew of Maui OnStage‘s 2018 production of “Cabaret,” including Bennett Cale as Henry Higgins, Lin McEwan as Eliza Doolittle, Steven Dascoulias as Alfred P Doolittle, David Belew as Colonel Pickering, Marsi Smith as Mrs. Pearce/Mrs. Higgins, Dan Church as Freddy, and Julia Schwentor as Clara, plus appearances by Carol Lem as Mrs. Eynsford-Hill and Ally Shore as our valiant reader of stage directions.

Note: This was our first attempt at an online reading, and we greatly appreciate your patience with any tech or editing issues. This is all a learning experience, and we hope you enjoy the products of our efforts as they improve with each venture!

In a community that can sometimes feel dominated by the transient culture of tourism, it is important to support and maintain a level of the arts & theater that enrich the lives of those of us that call Maui home. For over 14 years, ProArts has been proud to provide affordable and quality theater for South Maui and beyond. With your help, we can continue to provide this much needed cultural outlet for our community, our keiki, and our island home for years to come.
